If I had a bunch of money to give away, I'd like to donate it to institutions that support students studying abroad in Ph.D. programprograms. Many Japanese students in foreign countries are struggling with finding out the sponsorship or scholarship to cover their living fees and tuition. The fact that such students suffer financial issues leads to a decrease in the number of students who go to foreign Ph.D.program programs.
In Japan, many companies don't put value on Ph.D., because they thoughtthink a Ph.D. is not necessary for employees to work in their company which implies they don't need such specialized knowledge. So they tend to hire students with a Bachelor's degree or a Master's degree. Under this circumstance, the number of students getting a Ph.D. is decreasing, which keeps companies to hesitatehesitating to hire Ph.D. students. This negative cycle makes me decide to donate money to institutions or foundations which help to studystudents abroad studentsto study.
