He is the eleventh son out of fifteen. The last one born in Russia. He grew up surrounded by girls who were married too young and men who were over-protective. Eugene went to church every sSunday. Church was a cycle of sitting and listening, kneeling and praying, and standing and singing. Money was more important than school was, as long as he had money in the bank for a future family, everything would be okay, or so he thought.
There was a high
-school party where he was offered a brownie (you know, the type of brownie that makes you feel sky high). A few weeks later he was given a joint, which escalated to alcohol which escalated to drugs ithat I don’t even know the name of. Instead of saving for his future family, he was saving for drugs and alcohol. He became dependent on it. It didn’t take long before he dropped out of high school to work odd jobs so as to make money to get whatever it iwas that he wanted,. gGirls were not his priority not even when he knocked one up. He didn’t care that he had a daughter, or maybe he didn’t want the responsibility of having her.
Calypso, is her name, she has beautiful
, long, blonde hair and big, brown eyes. She is wise beyond her years and genuinely kind. She is eight years old now and her father has only seen her once or twice.
He didn’t even try to get better after having her, it actually looked like he got worse. Eugene lost his job and his home. He couldn’t pay rent and he couldn’t function at work. So my mom told him
, “Eugene, I will give you a job and you can stay in my house for the rest of Vivian’s school year.” So in other words, he had seven months to figure out his life or find another place to live and he agreed. Although at first it was hard on my mom and I having him in the house, having to altering our morning and evening routine, after a few days he became a part of it. The hard part was the weekends with endless different women and the guest room continuously smelling like cannabis or vodka. As soon as my mom banned drugs in the house the alcohol smell from his room slowly faded as well, and there weren't multiple women anymore, in fact there weren't any at all. Slowly but surely he faded away from the drug scene and he veered towards a better and healthyier lifestyle.
Eugene is my uncle who experimented with
drugs and lost his way in the process. He now goes to different churches and preaches about the hardships people can face if they become dependent on drugs.
