Throughout the day I had to make records on the work progress to allow us to update the system afterwards. At the time I've had been using a clipboard. Wwhich wasn't sufficient because I had to be on the move, including outdoors in the night time, or in the rain. Pen and paper didn't fit for the purpose.
I've come up with an idea of using the dictaphone instead. WThics has had a significant impact on my work, although it was so easy to implement. AIt has also it's enabled admin'instration to process information more quicker.ly Aand made possible to update information more frequently.

I was working on the sub-surface tunnel strengthening project. Throughout the shift, a temporary support structure was installed to allow for safe operation of trains during traffic hours. On the date, I carried out a final inspection before leaving the track and noticed that one side of the temporary structure chad come off loose. OnAt that point, I could tell that the safe clearance margin was infringed, and should the train proceed through, it would strike the structure. At the time, one part of my gang was loading vehicles outside, and another part was unloading truck trolleys onto the platform. I was 150 m from the platform about 5.00 in the morning. I had 14 min to hand track back. This job was about to overrun.
I haved proceeded to the platform and requested for the staff to load the scaffolding tower onto the trolley and return back. Then I came outside and told everyone to return back to work side immediately. When I returned back, I saw that everyone stood there and didn't know what to do. I said that there iwas no time to think, no time to investigate, and that we haved to act quickly. And this is what we awere going to do. We wioulld take the loose parts of structure down. (I was loud and aggressive as some might say, but I use this language only to communicate the sense of emergency to everyone. Everyone must to shift now and be sharp, focused and proactive.)
We took the faulty part of structure down., Lloaded it onto the trolley and managed to return and move clear before the call back time. I even got two minutes to book off.
I reported the incident to the project manager. And sSome changes were implemented to prevent it from happening in the future.
