Modern image processing comprises an inseparable part inof medicine, especially in radiology. In radiology, advanced image processing methods have a crucial role, owing to availability of high-performance hardware. Image processing is closely related to early diagnostics, differential diagnostics and other fields in radiology. One of parts of radiology is diagnostic ultrasound. This paper is focused on a method of image processing in neurosonology. This method is based on the principle of comparison of echogenicity grade inside the Region of Interest (ROI) in ultrasound B-MODE images. The ROI can have predefined shape and size according to the examined structure in B-image or free-hand ROI. The goal of the study is to show how to evaluate the ratio between echogenic and anechogenic areas; the principle could be used in general for diagnostic ultrasound.
