A country havehas an official song that unites all the people, and we call it the national anthem. It is a patriotic song, which means standing up and believing in your country. InOn public occasions, like official ceremonies, sports, the opening of Parliament, and practical events, a national anthem is played or sung. The Philippines national anthem is titled "Lupang Hinirang". In 1898, Julian Felipe composed the music, and the lyrics were adapted from the Spanish poem, ?Filipinas', which was written by Jose Palma in 1899. Originally, it didn't have any lyrics and was played as a march, titled ‘Marcha Filipina-Magdalo', and was later changed to ‘Marcha Nacional Filipina'. The march was played during the proclamation of Philippine independence on June 12, 1898. Its holds a meaningful lyrics, which is tellingtell that the Philippines is free at last from invaders.
