We just read the short story, “ Story In Three Parts” from the book 145th Street by Walter Dean Meyer. The main character, Big Time, goes to his great-grandmother's house for money as usual, and, as usual, she would telltells him a story. This time, the story is about one of his ancestors thatwho was a slave. The story wasis about this slave named Doll, thatwho killed her two children so the speculator wouldwouldn't take them away. His grandmother eventually gives him money and Big Time leaves. Afterwards, Big Time goes to Sweet JimmyJimmy's place and buys drugs. Sweet Jimmy gives him a syringe and he goes to the corner and inserts the syringe into his arm. Big Time starts to go into a drunk likedrunken a state. Sweet Jimmy askasks Big Time to help his sister get her S.A.T.SATs done.
