48- In August 2016, my family informed me that four security agents stopped by the family home in Damascus for screening in the area, similar to what happened when I was in Syria in 2012 and 2013. They asked my father a lot of questions about the whole family. They searched the house as usual, then they asked about me. They asked about my military booklet. They asked about my activities in the United States since I left. They also asked for all of my friends' and roommates' names, in the U.S. and in Syria. At the end of all of this, they told my family that I have to report to them whenever I come back to Syria. In November 2016, my sister went to ask if I could renew my Syrian passport. After she providesprovided my information, the clerk replied angrily that I can’t and I don’t deserve to carry a Syrian passport, since I left the country.
