This year will be themy 20th year I have beenas the Team Captain for Metro’s Mission at the Relay For Life. I thought I would share my personal story on why I Relay.

My
Sister-in-lawsister-in-law, Linda Lopez, was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 1998. She lost her battle 6 years later, leaving behind my brother Chris, their son Joe, 9 years old, and daughter, Lex, 7 years old. My family and I have been participating since 1999 on her behalf.

I want to thank InterMetro for allowing me to raise funds throughout the years. An estimate of what Team Metro’s Mission has raised over the past 19 years totals $80,000.00. I can’t begin to thank all of you
enough for your support over the years. These funds help patients and families with rides to chemotherapy, extended stays at the Hope Lodge, research, and advocacy. You should all stand proud!

This year
, the American Cancer Society has decided to merge numerous local Relays to become one main event. It will be held at PNC Field, beginning on June 2, 2018 at 10 a.m.
