Girish Karnad’s third play, Hayavadana (1971), is a noteworthy play asbecause it deals with the question of Head and Body with a different purpose. Karnad projects the female character in a very different manner. His female character possesses qualities like attractivesuch as attractiveness, clevercleverness, energetic, andand energy more so than the more dominant than a male character in the play. Through the female character, Girish Karnad presents an image of a modern woman who is caught between two ideas,: one is her quest for completeness, and the other is her search for individual rights in a male-dominated society. Karnad shows an image of a modern woman through his character, Padmini, who is well aware of her equal rightrights and her individual identity in her life.
