Chapter 1: “The Big Bang”



In the summer of 1999, on August 20th, 1999 I, Nicholas Young, was born, at DC General Hospital Center. I stayed there for a couple of days because I’d had a cleft lip, which they did surgery on.

I don’t recall when I started walking, but I do remember this, that: my mom, Vanessa, my dad, John, my aunt sheilaAunt Sheila, and my three cousins, Nikki, Trina, and richardRichard lived on the first street in southwest dcDC.

We lived in an apartment that’sthat was three stories high. I livelived on the third floor, which had two bedrooms, one small bathroom, a small kitchen, and a big living room. I had to sleep with my parents because my cousin’scousins had one of the bedrooms.

One memory I’ll never forget is when I was climbing the refrigerator to get to my cousin NikkiNikki's birthday cake and my auntAunt Sheila caught me,. “Aunt Sheila, you caught me!” I exclaimed.
