Hereby we resubmit a retaileddetailed version of the manuscript GSLSpecPub2020-75R1. We most appreciate all yourthe positive and challenging comments by yourself and by the reviewers. andWe tried to incorporate most of them the best we could ininto this new version. However, we still think “Illite 40Ar-39Ar dating of Eocene deformation in the Chiapas Fold and Thrust Belt, southern Mexico” is an appropriate title for our article. In this new version weWe removed the geodynamic models explaining the formation of the CFTB, tried to keep it simplersimple, and focused on the illite ages that we report, on field structural observations, borehole data, and on a more careful review of literature on stratigraphy, as well as on thermochronology of AFT data from the Chiapas massif and from the CFTB, to support our interpretations.
Although we found the reviews of high quality and
a great help, we believe that the eye of an Ar-Ar illite geochronology expert would facilitate decision making. I would like to bring to your attention to Dr. Samuel Haines (s.haines@ntu.edu.sg), who has plenty of experience on this subject, for your consideration.
I take the opportunity to apologize for the delay in submitting the revised version. The bulk of the
CovidCOVID situation has made it very harddifficult to get this reviewed version of the manuscript donerevision finished on time. I hope that all is well by your side.
