A thorough evaluation was undertaken with due consideration given to field data collection, soil physical properties, the incidence of pest & diseases, fertilizer applications & climatic factors coupled to field observations made on the overall health of plants. The relevant information was extracted from the estate records, which were then used in the analysis.
Soil found in these two divisions belongs to the great soil groups, RedRed and Yellow Podsolic. The terrain of the area inspected is hilly and has rocky patches that intersect at certain locations. The texture of the soils varies greatly from place to place. In general, soils in both divisions were observed to be coarse. Soil depth also shows great variation, not only between fields but within the confines of a single field. Shallow soils are found on the rocky slab in certain fields.
