Along with their obvious, generally studied, economic functions, the fairs also took on quite striking social functions in the provinces. Since the Ottoman period, entertainment has come to the fore to attract more people inat commercial fairs. With the republic, we see that these two functions have beenhad become completely inseparable and that regulators and organizers such as religious communities had been removed from the whole process. Moreover, it is noteworthy for us that, republican administration continued to support this traditional entertainment, despite the cultural modernization project it carried out in the province. Especially in a land of conservatism and boredom, as well stated by Özarslan, entertainment function and a kind of social relaxation opportunity were the most attractive partsaspects of the fairs along with the economic interests. Although I distinguish economic and social functions of the fairs, by looking at their spatial use, that does not mean that entertainment was not an economic activity. The entertainment business has always been a significant part of the economic function of the fairs. It should also be stated that economic activities brought alongattracted socio-cultural interaction and dynamism. The facilities likeactivities such as eating, drinking, accommodation, lightening and security facilitated people's coexistence for a certain period of time in a specific space, and contributed to the formation of naturally occurring entertainment environments. Henceforth, unlikeUnlike the argumentsargument that the commodification of the entertainment in the province did startwas started by Democrat Partythe Democratic party rule, but instead entertainment was instead commodified in the fairs sinceduring the Ottoman rule. We can approach the issue of fairs for its contributions to exploretheir contribution towards exploring the bond between the province and entertainment which has been understudied, overlooked, and disregarded in contemporary studies onof Turkey. The research, which noticesnotes the factfacts of entertainment elementelements, generally referrefers to its nostalgic meaning, which does not result in any historical and analytical understanding.
