This is to inform you that the Center for Biotechnology Research requests funding for two of our research personnel, who will be traveling to Port Moresby to finalize the High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) lab work in UPNG. The HPLC work commenced late last year and was not completed due to the festive season and several problems encountered.
The centerCenter for Biotech Research (CBR) is currently running upscale experiments on the pilot project. The pilot project research aims at investigating local mushrooms for their potential in antibiotics using chromatin remodeling techniques.
The HPLC work was not completed due to a lot of downtimes experienced. It is imperative that we complete the HPLC analysis. Upon completion; (that is the isolation of all putative compounds in the mushroom extract using the HPLC technique), we aim to send the samples to Griffith University, Brisbane, Australia for compound characterization using the Nuclear Molecular Resonance (NMR) spectroscopic technique. Attached to this is a progressiveprogress report on the HPLC lab work.
The team members that will travel to UPNG to complete HPLC work are Mr. Bosley Boting and Ms. Stephanie Bulage. The total budget that will cater for research travel is worth K28, 242.60. A table for further clarification is provided on the next page.
