Everybody faces different challenges in life. How else would humans learn how to deal with their problems if there wouldn't be any? Today I want to tell you about the one that forever changed my life.
At the beginning of high school, I met a few girls. We instantly got along and became best friends very fast. As friends always do, we care about each other very much. One day when we were talking in the hallway, my friend, Paulina, told me she was not feeling well. Right after she said that, she fell to the ground. I was very close to not catching her. It turned out that she passed out. It was very stressful, but I knew I couldn't let the emotions take over. One of my friends rushed to ask a teacher for help. I stayed and tried to do my best to help Paulina. A few days after that situation, it happened again. Paulina started fainting very often. She had to go to the hospital to find out what was causing that. She was diagnosed with vasovagal syndrome. There is no cure for the syndrome, and she probably will struggle with that for the rest of her life. It is also very challenging for me because I need to be aware of my surroundings at all times. I always try my best to do everything I can to help her. I learned exactly what to do when she passes out, and now I'm much calmer when the attacks happen.
That's the challenge I face every few weeks and sometimes even days. It's made me more understanding toward others who struggle with health conditions or experiences different from mine. I believe I can say that this experience has made me a better person.
