The answers were coded to find the differences of request strategies between the two groups using descriptive statistics. The request strategies from each participant were counted each time it happened. If the same strategy happens more than once, the frequency of the happening was also counted. The t-test was used to identify the differences of request strategies in a group of Thai and Filipino teachers to find out whether therethey are different or not. The data from the interview brought the focus down to the reasons for why each group of participants uses particular request strategies and social aspects by three questions. All the information werewas recorded in written forms and analyzed by a descriptive approach. In order to investigate the effect of English proficiency on request strategies employed by Thai and Filipino teachers, the request strategies and English proficiency of both groups were compared to the average variance within groups by analysis of variance (ANOVA).
